Who really cares? AIG belongs to the Feds, will never make a dent in the $180 billion "invested" by "We The People."

Hank had quite a run, he's a billionaire, his scheme ran its course, fell off the tracks and he's 84-years-old.

Time to start reading a new book.

The notion of Hank Greenberg appearing as a sympathetic figure boggles the mind. Granted, he's in his 80s and small in stature, but his presence in a room is almost as enormous as his ego, and he's never attempted to minimize either.

It is impossible to imagine him behaving in a way that is inconsistent with the aggressive, belligerent, intimidating and condescending manner that is the trademark of his management style.

Since we are not that far removed from a time period where the press portrayed executive compensation as evil, an offshore/"off the books" compensation scheme could be very unpopular.

The average Joe barely understood that Dick Cheney's deferred Halliburton compensation was earned before it was a conflict of interest. I'm sure the Average Joe on the jury will want to pull the funds back to repay the government loan. That would be an ugly precedent.
